“There is one thing one must have, either a cheerful soul that is cheerful by nature, or a soul made cheerful by work, love, art and knowledge.” Fraedrich Nietzsche.
My soul is made cheerful especially by art. My passion for photography began in my teens, initially fascinated with the technical aspects later by the creative and artistic. As an artist, I love looking through the lens at landscapes and arranging them in compositions, a moment when time disappears. Not only light but the interaction of patterns, shapes, tones, mood and motion compel me to make a photograph. In my images are my experiences of the moment, not merely a representation of what I saw. Sometimes serendipitous and rarely, sought out, images more often simply present themselves to me. If I decide to make a photograph, the image represents my experience. My images have been published in a Lens Work monograph “Our Magnificent Planet”, Landscape Photography magazine, and ICM Photography Magazine.
Presented, is an eclectic portfolio of grandscapes and intimate scenes. For me it is enough that photography has enriched my life and that I find value in my work but my hope is that the work will resonate with you as it has with me.
